Considered the centre of Yeats Country but Yeats was neither born nor bred here. He came with his parents, both Sligonians, on holidays and his relatives the Middleton and Pollexfen families owned a shipping firm, the Sligo Stream Navigation company. Ruins of Sligo Abbey. Coney Island beyond Rosses Point inspired the naming of New York’s Coney Island.
