Brief Description

Queen Macha built a great palace here in 300BC which became the base of the warrior kings of Ulster and the legendary Red Hand Knights. The greatest hero was Cuchullain who single-handed stopped the Connaught supporters of Queen Maeve from capturing the great bull of Cooley.

In AD300 the palace was destroyed leaving only a massive earth mound.
