Lough Erne
Brief Description
Fifty miles of navigable water sprinkled with 154 islands making up Lower and Upper Lough Erne. An area of religious settlements, castles and nature reserves among lakes teeming with fish. At Devenish Island there are remains of a monastery founded by St Molaise in 564 or 571. Also one of Irelands finest round towers 81ft high with carved cornice of faces with beards and moustaches. On Boa Island are two very pagan double sided idols

Brief Description
County Town and ideal centre for visiting the Sperrins. Forest walks and drives. Splendid views of Donegal through to Lough Erne. Nearby at Camphill visit the ancestral home of the Mellon Family who founded the Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh. The Ulster American Folk Park is beside the Mellon Home.
Local Area attractions
A must is a visit to the Ulster American Folk Park. See the conditions the emigrants left behind, suffered on the wooden sailing ships and the kind of life the pioneers found in the New World. Blue Grass Music Festival is held here in September.
