Brief Description
Charming hilly historic town. Excellently preserved castle houses. The Castle dates from 1201. Fine six arch bridge over the Slaney River. Nearby is the site of the Battle of Vinegar Hill 1798. The granite St Aidan’s cathedral is dated 1843/46.

Museum, Golf & Grey Hound racing.
National 1798 Rebellion Centre.

Baltinglass
Brief Description
Stands under the 1258ft Baltinglass Hill in the Slaney valley. The top of the hill has cairns, passage graves and Bronze Age burial chambers. There are riverside ruins of a Cistercian abbey. Also a national monument to Dermot MacMurrough, King of Leinster, whose invitation led to the Norman invasion of Ireland.
Local Area attractions
A trip to the top is rewarded with superb views of the Wicklow Hills.
