Brief Description
Between Avoca and Arklow at the junction of three valleys. Once the mineral source for the goldsmith of ancient Ireland. There was a minor “Gold rush” in 1796. Since then small quantities have been found.

Brief Description
Popular East Coast resort. Noted for Pottery and boatbuilding. A battle in the 1798 Rebellion took place here.
Shelton Abbey is nearby. James II rested here after the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
Local Area attractions
Good base for coastal bird watching. Ideal for touring to Glendalough, Glenmalure, Vale of Clara and the beauty spot made famous by Tom Moore the Waters of the Vale of Avoca. Miles of sandy beaches with safe bathing. Arklow golf club.
