Baltinglass
Brief Description
Stands under the 1258ft Baltinglass Hill in the Slaney valley. The top of the hill has cairns, passage graves and Bronze Age burial chambers. There are riverside ruins of a Cistercian abbey. Also a national monument to Dermot MacMurrough, King of Leinster, whose invitation led to the Norman invasion of Ireland.
Local Area attractions
A trip to the top is rewarded with superb views of the Wicklow Hills.
