He came with his parents, both Sligonians, on holidays and his relatives the Middleton and Pollexfen families owned a shipping firm, the Sligo Stream Navigation company. Ruins of Sligo Abbey. Coney Island beyond Rosses Point inspired the naming of New York’s Coney Island.
