Fjord–like lough surrounded by Cooley and Mourne Mountains. The Vikings beached their longboats at Cranfield at the mouth of the lough.
The Cloughmore stone ( 40 ton lump of granite) is said to have been thrown across the lough by Finn MacCool. It landed above Rostrevor. Students of the Ice Age might have a different explanation! Near Warrenpoint is Narrow Water Castle a 16th century Towerhouse
